Practice nursesCarol Begley - Practice Nurse The practice nurses are available by appointment for advice about any health matters, immunisations, dressings and ear syringing. They carry out blood pressure checks, ECG and cervical smears. They also carry out health checks for the elderly and patients with diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure. Blood test arranged by the doctors are performed by the healthcare assistants. Healthcare assistants are also able to undertake some vaccinations, heart traces (ECGs), blood pressure checks and hearing tests. nurse practitionerSally Martin Our nurse practitioner is a nurse with additional training allowing her to consult patients very much like a doctor. She is able to make diagnoses and prescribe medications. You can make appointments in advance for our nurse practitioner. She works closely with the doctors on difficult problems. district nursesNikki Gorman - Team Leader
The district nurses provide nursing care for patients who are
housebound, ill at home or recently discharged from hospital. They
are based at the surgery and should be contacted by telephone on
Matlock 593243 after 9.00am. Community MatronPeggy Hardern Our community matron has additional training which enables her to oversee the care of patients with more complex needs. She is able to diagnose and prescribe and also works closely with the local nursing homes to provide individual care plans for each patient. Health VisitorsCheryl Mayfield The health visitors are based at the surgery to give advice on health care, particularly for mothers and children. They should be contacted by telephoning Matlock 593244. MidwifeRuth Perryman The midwife provides full maternity care for our patients. She runs the antenatal clinics and can be contacted at the surgery and the Darley Birth Centre on Matlock 593019. You can deliver your baby at Darley if you fulfil the safety criteria. Practice ManagerDawn Davis - Practice Manager Responsible for the daily administration of the practice, she will answer any enquiries about non-medical aspects of the practice. The practice manager is the person to whom any complaints or suggestions should be directed and NOT the doctor. RECEPTION STAFF
The receptionists ease the flow of patients to the doctors and
keep the practice running smoothly. They are here to help you. For
example they can give you the results of laboratory tests and can
arrange transport for hospital appointments. SECRETARIES AND ADMIN STAFFSandra West - Senior Secretary The secretaries and admin staff also help with the smooth running of the surgery with regard to hospital appointments and any other admin query that cannot be dealt with by the receptionists.
